2) What we collect
- Account data: email, display name, avatar (if provided), authentication identifiers.
- User‑generated content (UGC): memorial pages, texts, images, dates, locations you submit; reports/complaints.
- Transactional data: in‑app purchases/donations (amounts, product IDs, timestamps). We do not store full payment card data.
- Device & app data: device model, OS, app version, language, crash logs, performance metrics.
- Usage data: interactions within the app, feature usage, analytics events.
- Push tokens: FCM/APNs token to send notifications.
- Location data (optional): when you enable location features (e.g., nearby memorials). You can disable this in device settings.
3) How we use data (purposes)
- Provide and maintain the Service (create and display memorials, moderation, search).
- Account management and authentication.
- Purchases/donations and receipts.
- Push notifications about memorial updates and service messages (you can opt out in settings).
- Safety and abuse prevention (detect spam, misuse, illegal content).
- Analytics, performance, and product improvement.
- Legal compliance and enforcing our Terms.
4) Legal bases (GDPR, where applicable)
- Contract: to provide the Service you request.
- Legitimate interests: security, anti‑abuse, analytics, product improvement.
- Consent: push notifications, location access, certain marketing (where required).
- Legal obligation: tax, accounting, regulatory requirements.
5) Sharing & processors
We use trusted providers solely to run the Service:
- Firebase (Google): Auth, Firestore/Database, Functions, Storage, Messaging, Analytics, Remote Config, Performance.
- Apple (App Store / IAP): payment processing for in‑app purchases.
- Crash/metrics tools: for diagnostics and performance.
- Email/provider services: to handle support communications.
We may disclose data if required by law, to protect rights, safety, or detect abuse. We do not sell personal data.
6) Data retention
We keep data for as long as your account is active or as needed for the purposes above. UGC may remain until you delete it or request removal. Legal/transaction records may be retained as required by law.
7) Your choices & rights
- Access, correct, delete your data; export where feasible.
- Withdraw consent (e.g., push, location).
- Object or restrict certain processing.
- Opt‑out of analytics where supported by the platform.

8) CCPA/CPRA (California)
We do not “sell” or “share” personal information as defined by CPRA. California residents can request access, deletion, and information about disclosures at support@sorrow.app.
9) Children
The Service is not intended for children under 13 (or the minimum age in your region). If you believe a child provided personal data, contact us for deletion.
10) Sensitive content notice
Memorials may include sensitive biographical information. Only submit content you are legally allowed to share and that respects others’ privacy and rights. You can report content for review within the app.
11) International transfers
We may process data on servers outside your country. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards (e.g., SCCs) to protect your data.
12) Security
We use technical and organizational measures (encryption in transit, access controls, least‑privilege). No method is 100% secure, but we work to protect your data.
13) Third‑party links
Our Service may link to third‑party sites/services. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies.
14) Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be notified in‑app or on our website. Continued use means you accept the updated Policy.
